The Ashes conclude this week and what a summer of cricket it’s been!

The highly anticipated 2025/2026 Ashes commences its final test match tomorrow and if you didn’t know, it’s going to be to a pink test. A pink test has become somewhat of an incredible and sacred Australian Cricket tradition. The pink test is in dedication to those going through the incredibly tough journey that is cancer and is here to support and recognise the McGrath Foundation, a world leading supportive care nursing to people facing breast cancer.

The McGrath Foundation has strong ties to the cricketing world. The foundation was founded back in 2005 by Glenn and Jane McGrath, following Jane McGrath’s breast cancer diagnosis. For those who mightn’t know, Glen McGrath is one of Australia’s most highly regarded pace bowlers and played over 120 test matches for the International Australian Cricket side. Sadly, in 2008 Jane McGrath passed away at the age of 42.

For many years now, the Sydney Pink test has become a staple of January cricket at the SCG. Spectators are encouraged to dress in pink to share their support, and even the current playing team will be rocking some pink on their kit. This year, day three of the test will also specifically be Jane McGrath Day at the SCG and regardless of the rivalry the teams face, pink tests in both England and Australia are an occasion where both teams come together to share a unified front against an awful disease.
