The 2025 New South Wales budget has been released by State Treasurer Daniel Mookey.
Here’s what we can expect, and what our local state members are saying:
Member for South Coast Liza Butler
“This builds on the government’s existing investments into education infrastructure in the South Coast, including:
· $300 million to upgrade schools, including Moruya, Vincentia, Bomaderry and Ulladulla high schools, and Ulladulla and Milton public schools
Announced 100 new public preschools for NSW with ten in the Illawarra and the South Coast
· 826 teachers and 620 school support staff who were temporary now made permanent across the Illawarra and South Coast
· As at the start of the 2025 school year, teacher vacancies had reduced by an average of 71.0 per cent across the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Local Government Areas, compared to the peak of the teacher shortage crisis in 2022.”

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward
“More planning money for the Dapto Access Ramps, more planning money for the East Nowra Sub Arterial, more planning money for the Nowra bypass. Lots of planning, and not much doing,” Mr Ward said.
“Labor promised a lot at the last election and I’m deeply disappointed that so many of the things they promised the electorate won’t be delivered as they promised.
“Let me be clear, Labor has broken promises to our region while investing in Sydney’s infrastructure.
“No start date for the Milton Ulladulla Bypass, no start date for the Calderwood School and there doesn’t appear to be a clear indication around funding of Labor’s promised before and after school care facilities at local public schools.”
