Member for Wollondilly, Judy Hannan MP today has welcomed the announcement of funding for a detention basin at Bowral Golf Course.

Recent heavy and extreme weather events have resulted in flooding all across the Southern Highlands.

“I welcome the news of funding for Wingecarribee Council to complete this work and I ask that the Golf course users are consulted to ensure the holes are unaffected both during and after construction” said Judy Hannan MP.

“The proposed detention basin will be located inside Bowral Golf Course in Bowral. The objective of the project is to reduce flooding impacts downstream of the basin, mainly on Bevan Place, Moss Vale Road and Loftus Street” said Judy Hannan MP.

“Council scoping has suggested the proposed basin will reduce the flood damages by 58%. The project involves construction of 3 interconnected basins with outlet structures and open channels” she said.

The NSW Government will support 16 councils including Wingecarribee Shire Council to manage flood risk, with more than $20 million in grants to design and implement flood mitigation works under the NSW Flood Recovery and Resilience Grant Program.
