Roadworks beginning at Sutton Forest and Lake Conjola

Two roadworks projects are getting underway at Sutton Forest and Lake Conjola this week

Sutton Forest Works

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Illawarra Highway at the Hume Highway intersection at Sutton Forest, known locally as Hoddles cross roads, for slope stabilisation work.

Work to stabilise the road embankments with rocks and earth materials will be carried out between 7am and 5pm weekdays from Monday 23 June for three months, weather permitting.

Road shoulder closures, intermittent stop/slow traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place in both directions.

Motorists should allow up to five minutes additional travel time, drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Lake Conjola works

Motorists are also advised of changed traffic conditions from this week on the Princes Highway between Conjola Creek and Lake Conjola Entrance Road, as upgrades to roadside safety barriers are carried out. 

Work will include installing one kilometre of new roadside flexible steel rail barriers and upgrading around three kilometres of existing roadside barriers with new flexible steel rail barriers along this section of the highway. 

Work will be carried out between 6am and 6pm Monday to Thursday and between 6am and 1pm on Fridays, from Monday 23 June and is expected to take around six weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Single lane closures, stop/slow traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.  Work will be delivered in sections to minimise impacts to motorists and the community.  

Motorists should allow up to 10 minutes’ additional travel time, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
