‘Townies’ to help plug local ag skills gap

Local students from non-farming backgrounds- are helping to fill the current skills gap in the agriculture industry.

The TAFE NSW Moss Vale ag course has been traditionally filled with students that were raised on a farm, but the current trend of ‘townies’ enrolling is being welcomed by the industry – considering the growing labour shortage.

Agriculture student Dominic Gambrill who grew up in Burradoo – highly recommends the course – regardless of background.

“There is so much opportunity, the staff are very helpful and you will learn alot,

“You may feel you don’t have the ability to be in the course, but you will find your footing very quickly,”Mr. Gambrill said.
