Kiama Municipal Council is proceeding with the development of a masterplan for Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park.
As part of Council’s commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of facilities to ensure the park continues to meet the needs of visitors now and into the future, staff are undertaking long-term planning to respond to changing travel patterns, guest expectations and the broader tourism landscape.
As the park is situated on Crown land, Council is required to manage it in accordance with the Crown Land Management Act 2016 (NSW).
This includes supporting the NSW Government’s strategic direction to enhance the use of public land, strengthen tourism opportunities and ensure the land delivers sustainable benefits for the wider community.
Council has engaged a specialist contractor to prepare a masterplan for Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park. This work will be undertaken over the coming months and will help inform the park’s future direction.
As of 19 June 2026, approval will no longer be granted for the sale of holiday vans to remain at the park. This approach is intended to ensure transparency and to avoid uncertainty for owners and potential purchasers while future planning is underway.
Van owners may continue to sell their van, however it must be sold for removal from the park. Any prospective new purchaser will not be offered a new occupation agreement to keep the van within the park. Owners may choose to remove their van from the park at any time.
Council has written to the van owners at the permanent sites at Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park to inform them about the masterplan and potential impacts to their occupation arrangements.
Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald said the masterplan process will consider the long-term use of the park, in line with Council’s obligations and the NSW Government’s Crown Land 2031: State Strategic Plan for Crown land.
The State Government’s strategic plan promotes:
- Greater diversity of use to deliver public value from the Crown land estate,
- Improved customer experience,
- Managing assets and infrastructure to generate new opportunities for a greater variety of use,
- Strengthening regional tourism through activation of Crown land with a wider variety of contemporary options.
“We need to modernise Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park so that it can remain sustainable as a popular attraction for our area into the future,” Mayor McDonald said.
“As a council we need to make sure the park complies with legislation and any applicable environmental controls.
“It is important to note that no decisions have been made and we await the recommendations of the masterplan so that we can work out the best outcome for the holiday park.”
