A safer and more reliable crossing for the Mittagong community, with a new bridge over Nattai Creek now complete.

Funded through a $4.6 million investment under the Fixing Country Bridges Program, the new concrete bridge has been constructed alongside the heritage-listed Nattai Creek Bridge on Ferguson Crescent.

The project improves safety and resilience for motorists and pedestrians, while maintaining the historic timber bridge, built in 1898, as a local heritage asset.

A further $1.05 million co-contribution from Wingecarribee Shire Council supported additional works, including new road approaches, retaining walls, safety fencing and revegetation.

The new bridge features a 2.5 metre shared pedestrian pathway, removing the need for
pedestrians to walk on the road and significantly improving safety for the local community.

The original timber bridge has reached the end of its serviceable life and will no longer carry vehicles or pedestrians. It will be retained and maintained by Council to preserve its cultural significance.
