A tale of Jervis Bay’s Little Wild One

This is the latest image of the baby Humpback Whale that has captivated whale watchers in Jervis Bay for over a week.

Named the Little Wild One by Jervis Bay Wild whale watchers, the prematurely born calf appears to be thriving in the protected waters of the bay.

It’s white skin is now darkening as it puts on weight and condition to continue the northern migration with its mother.

Importantly, the latest image give researchers a clear shot of the young whale’s tail which can assist identifying it again when it returns from Australia’s warmer northern waters later this year during the annual southern migration.
