Snake handlers from Wildlife Rescue South Coast had a surprise find on a routine call in the Bay and Basin area on Friday.
What was thought to be a native Bandi Bandi snake turned out to be a Californian Kingsnake, an illegal import.
The snake, nicknamed ‘Mr.Smugglesworth’, was removed and put down due to biosecurity laws.
