Drowning death off Bombo Headland

A man, believed to be a tourist from Bangadesh, has drowned after being swept off rocks by a heavy swell at the Bombo Headland near Kiama.

Witnesses called Triple-0 at about 3pm Sunday (14 April 2024) with Inflatable Rescue Boat crews from Kiama and Kiama Downs Surf Clubs responding.

They located the man, believed to be aged in his 40’s, submerged about 50 metres off the rocks and returned him to Bombo Beach.

Despite CPR by Life Savers and NSW Ambulance Paramedics, he couldn’t be saved.

Police have launched an investigation and a report will go to the coroner.
