“Fire Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW) has formally handed control of the Shoalhaven Starches site to Manildra Group, following an isolated smouldering incident in a silo which contained pelletised stockfeed.
The incident, which began 8 days ago, resulted in an 800 metre exclusion zone around the plant and local roads being closed because of what NSW Fire and Rescue said was the risk of a dust explosion.
Shoalhaven Starches Site Manager Tertius Jones gave a heartfelt thank you to FRNSW, emergency services staff and Manildra Group’s on-site teams.
“It has been all shoulders to the wheel – and we would like to thank everyone for their tireless efforts, commitment, and hard work.
“We would also like to thank our employees and the local Bomaderry community for their patience, cooperation and understanding during this time,” Mr Jones said.
Manildra Group has resumed processing at the Shoalhaven Starches site.”
