Bong Bong Street Water Main Renewal

July 15, 2026 10:05 am in by

Wingecarribee Shire Council advises that essential renewal works to strengthen the
Bowral town centre water pipe network will begin. This work is part of the Bong Bong
Street Water Main Renewal Project. The works will require temporary changes to parkingand overnight traffic conditions.

The existing water main along Bong Bong Street, between Wingecarribee Street and
Boolwey Street, is in poor condition and is being replaced following recent pipe failures.

The upgrade will improve the reliability of the water network and support a consistent
supply for residents and businesses.

The new polyethylene water main will be installed using directional drilling, a method
that allows the pipe to be installed underground with minimal excavation, reducing
impacts on the road surface, parking, traffic and surrounding properties.

Key changes:

  • Station Street carpark:
o The southern section of the Station Street carpark will be temporarily
closed from Wednesday 8 July to Friday 11 September 2026, weather
    permitting.
o The area will be used as a construction laydown area for project materials
    and equipment.
  • Night works:
o Night works will commence Monday 27 July 2026.
o Work hours will be 9pm to 6am, Monday to Friday, to minimise impacts
on daytime traffic and local businesses.
o Works are expected to be completed by Friday 11 September 2026,
    weather permitting.
  • Traffic Changes:
o During the day, Bong Bong Street will remain open to traffic, with
temporary parking restrictions at property connection work areas.
o The northbound lane of Bong Bong Street, between Wingecarribee Street
and Boolwey Street, will generally remain open throughout the
construction period. However, temporary night-time closures including

various stages of the project. When closures are in place, traffic will be
    detoured via Merrigang Street.
