Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command have wrapped up Operation Fume, a high visibility road operation targeting alcohol and drug driving, last week.
Operation Fume ran from Friday 22 March 2024, from 12.01am until Saturday 23 March 2024, 11.59pm across the Hume Police District, targeting major and local roads where serious injury and fatal collisions occur.
Police issued 44 infringements notices and charged 8 people for traffic offences – including drink and drug driving and detected 3 drivers with suspended licenses.
Police conducted 1356 random breath tests and 503 random drug tests.
A 62-year-old woman was subjected to a roadside drug test, returning a positive result for drugs.
She was conveyed to Goulburn Police Station where she allegedly returned a positive result to a secondary test.
The 37-year-old male passenger was searched, police seized three resealable bags allegedly containing methylamphetamine, a glass pipe and cannabis within the vehicle. Both were issued with criminal infringement notices.
