Dozens of emergency service personnel will converge on two South Coast public schools for a special multi-agency community event this Thursday and Friday. ( April 30 and May 1, 2026 )
The playgrounds of Cambewarra and Terara Public Schools are usually filled with students, but over two action-packed days police, paramedics, firefighters, and navy personnel will take over, bringing the community closer to the heroes who protect and serve them.
Students will get a taste of what it is like to work on the frontline, including police fingerprinting, exciting demonstrations, and tours of firefighting trucks.
The day will also feature a thrilling showdown between the local police riot squad and the Rural Fire Service (RFS), complete with riot shields and water hoses.
Cambewarra Public School Principal John Bond said he is thrilled to welcomeso many emergency service professionals to the school.
“This is a rare opportunity for our students to learn directly from the people who help keep our community safe every day,” said Mr Bond.
“The excitement in the playground will be palpable, from helicopters landing to interactive games, our students are getting experiences they’ll remember for a lifetime. It’s hands-on learning at its very best.”
Terara Public School Principal Emma Chalker said students will be invited to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up.
“The day will inspire our students to dream big and think about the difference they can make in their community,” said Mrs Chalker.
“We’re grateful for the wonderful collaboration with all the emergency services. Our students are learning about teamwork, courage, and the wide variety of career opportunities available in public service.”
