Bundanoon’s village centre is set for a major safety boost after Wingecarribee Shire Council secured $1.26 million from the NSW Government’s Towards Zero Safer Roads Program.

The funding will deliver pedestrian safety upgrades along Railway Avenue between Anzac Parade and Osbourne Street, including raised crossings, continuous footpaths, kerb extensions, improved lighting and signage aimed at slowing traffic and making it easier for people to move around the village. Construction is expected to begin in October 2027.

The project is one of the first major initiatives to emerge from the Bundanoon Village Place Plan, developed through almost two years of community consultation.

Mayor Erin Foley said the funding was a positive outcome for Bundanoon and reflected the community’s vision for a safer, more connected village centre while maintaining the character of the town.

Transport for NSW says similar High Pedestrian Activity Areas have led to significant reductions in casualty crashes and improved safety for all road users.
