One of Berry’s most beloved local pubs has changed hands, with the Great Southern Hotel acquired by a group of local and Sydney-based hospitality investors in an $11.15 million deal.
The sale comes as Berry continues to cement its place as one of NSW’s leading regional destinations, having won gold in the NSW Top Tourism Town Awards for 3 consecutive years.

Alongside a growing wedding, accommodation and events sector, the acquisition reflects continued confidence in the town’s future.
The new ownership group is led by local resident Steve Redman, alongside Scott Still who owns several regional pubs across Australia.

Redman sees the acquisition as a chance to invest in the community he calls home – building on the pub’s rich history while creating an experience the whole town can be proud of.
“This is about being part of Berry for the long term,” Redman said. “We’ve watched this town grow into something special, and we want the Great Southern Hotel to reflect that – the same pub locals know and love, just with more behind it.”
As part of the pub’s transition, the much-loved Il Locale restaurant will close its doors, with owners Damian and Josie joining the Great Southern Hotel’s team, bringing their culinary expertise into the venue’s next phase
