Volunteers from Marine Rescue Ulladulla and Marine Rescue Jervis Bay have combined efforts to assist a vessel located 12 nautical miles (22kms) east of Tabourie Island.
A volunteer radio operator at Marine Rescue Ulladulla received a call for assistance at 11am, Sunday 26 July.
A 4-5 metre half-cabin vessel experienced mechanical failure while fishing offshore.
A volunteer crew were deployed on board rescue vessel Ulladulla 20, and reached the disabled boat shortly before 1pm.
UL 20 commenced the tow before handing the vessel over to Jervis Bay 20.
“The volunteer crew on JB 20 continued towing the vessel, returning the two people on board safely to Murrays Beach at approximately 4pm,” Inspector Glenn Sullivan said.
With many boat ramps on the South Coast operating at capacity over the weekend, Inspector Sullivan reminds boaters to take advantage of Marine Rescue NSW’s free safety services.
“All boaters are encouraged to Log On and Off with Marine Rescue NSW via the free Marine Rescue app or VHF Channel 16. Logging On saves precious time in the event of an emergency and ensures our dedicated volunteers keep watch for their safe return,” Inspector Sullivan said.
